BOOKS

We have many requests for my cookbooks, some of which are out of print, or hard to find. When ever I can I buy them. I do so, so that I can offer them for resale. All are $26, plus $3 for postage and handling, total $28. There might be a waiting period, for I buy them when I find them...which I do!

Here are the available titles:

1. COOKING FROM QUILT COUNTRY, 1989
2. HEARTLAND: THE BEST OF THE OLD AND THE NEW FROM MIDWEST KITCHENS, 1991
3. CHRISTMAS IN THE HEARTLAND, 1992
4. HEIRLOOM RECIPES: YESTERDAY'S FAVORITES, TOMORROW'S TREASURES, 1995
5. RECIPES REMEMBERED, 1995*
6. NEW RECIPES FROM QUILT COUNTRY, 1997
7. MARCIA ADAMS: HEART TO HEART, 2001**
8. MARCIA ADAMS: HEART ANEW 2002**

*RECIPES REMEMBERED is a fill-in cookbook of your own favorite recipes to save for future generations, plus a few of my own.
**The last two books are journals (and recipes, all new) written about my successful heart transplant. These are very limited and in paperback.

  1. Marcia, I am absolutely thrilled to find your blog. I'm going to try the bread pudding recipe. I have all of your cookbooks. You were very instrumental in my learning how to cook!

  2. Hi Marcia - so glad to see you have an update. I too have all your cookbooks and reference them often. They are by far my favorites! If you ever come across the set of VHS tapes of the ‘Amish Cooking From Quilt Country’ show, series 1, please let me know. I would love to buy it. I taped your shows years ago when it was on TLC. Much later I acquired the VHS boxed set of series 2 and much to my surprise there were whole segments cut out of the TLC version of the shows! So I have been keeping my eye out for series 1 which is hard to find. Recently I purchased your books dealing with your heart condition and am reading them now. Your determination and perseverance through all you have gone through is very inspirational. I have had my share of health problems through the years so I can relate, in some small way, to what you have gone through. One of the things I was drawn to when watching your shows, besides the recipes and history, was your enthusiasm over 'the little things' - such as a Geranium leaf or the pattern on a dish. It always makes me smile. Thanks you so much! I hope you are doing well - Ron King - Norwalk CA

  3. Hello again! I actually contacted WBGU directly to obtain tapes of "Amish Cooking from Quilt Country." They were very helpful and shipped them to Michigan. Susan Perkins - Royal Oak MI

  4. Hi Susan - thanks for sharing. Was this recently you received tapes from them? I obtained a bunch of tapes from them too (for various different series) and they were extreamly generous and helpful. However I got the impression I 'cleaned them out' of all they had of Marcia Adams' shows. This was about two years ago. The Series 1 set of Amish Cooking From Quilt Country is the one that seems to be hard to find. I have yet to come accross it anywhere. A couple of vendors on Amazon have the series 2 brand new for sale but I already have that set. Thanks! - Ron King

  5. Hi Ron - I'd say it was 18 to 24 months ago that I received the tapes from them too. I would like to convert them to DVD! All the best!

  7. Hello Ms. Marcia - I would like to purchase a copy of 'Cooking from Quilt Country'. Our favorite recipe is the Incredibly Tender Beef Stew from the 2nd book 'More Cooking from Quilt Country' which we have. Now we need the one with Beef and Noodles! Winter's coming...

  8. I own every single cookbook that you've put out. Every recipe is a gem. I think Midwestern cuisine as well as Amish foods are overlooked by the rest of the country. Many of the recipes in your cookbooks are things my Pennsylvania Dutch grandmother made for me. Every time I make one of those dishes it puts me right back in my grandmother's and great-grandmother's kitchen. Thank you so much for preserving a forgotten part of our food history.

I used to love watching your cooking shows on PBS. Is it possible that they are available on VHS or DVD? Please let me know. Thank you.
